SWING & SERVE:

Clover Foundation's 4th annual
Swing & Serve Fundraiser

Tennis. For a cause.

Swing & Serve on Columbus Day was a fun-filled afternoon of tennis followed by a festive party with friends! Many thanks to Marcus Lewis for hosting at his Tennis Center and to Nancy DeAngelo for welcoming us at her home.

Swing & Serve on Columbus Day was a fun-filled afternoon of tennis followed by a festive party with friends! Many thanks to Marcus Lewis for hosting at his Tennis Center and to Nancy DeAngelo for welcoming us at her home.

Thanks to the generosity of all who attended and bought raffle tickets and crafts, we raised close to $4000 to support Clover's 80 pre-school and primary students. Their lives are made richer and healthier with your support! We are very grateful!

Twenty-four players, played lively round robin games. We’re so glad people enjoyed the new format, including meeting new players! At the party, guests enjoyed an uplifting slideshow of Clover’s children and Marcus’ moving comments about why he has sponsored Swing & Serve for the last 4 years. Board member, Fugi Kalisa, who has visited Clover Pre-School on several occasions, spoke about the impact Clover's work has on our children and their families.

We welcomed Axum Semakula, who with his 3 brothers and mother, Salma, is a founder of Clover. The boys’ generosity in sending their outgrown toys and clothing to needy children in Kampala was the seed idea for Clover. We also were very pleased to have members of the local Ugandan community join us both at tennis and dinner.

A highlight of the evening was the raffle valued at over $400, including a Babolat racquet, private lesson with a MLTC pro, and tennis accessories from Game Set Mat. The winner Paul Pappas,  generously asked that we draw another name and Alyson Becker has now taken home the prize! Congratulations!

Marcus and his tennis center will host Swing & Serve again next year on Columbus Day, October 14. Our 5th annual event! It is not too early to support Clover and put it on your calendar!

Please know that nearly 100% of your ticket price will be a contribution to the children of the Clover Foundation.
Clover is most grateful to our event sponsors, Marcus Lewis for the donation of his facility and staff time,  Nancy DeAngelo of Short Order Gourmet who graciously is providing the venue of her beautiful home for the post sport party, and Simon Polakoff for photography. And for generously donating the contents of our raffle basket: Babolat, Game Set Mat and the MLTC!
